Government Provides Rice Seeds to Families Affected by Floods in Battambang

Battambang: The Royal Government of Cambodia through the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Vong Sandab, has provided free rice seeds to farmers affected by floods in Battambang province. Provincial officials have distributed the rice seeds on Thursday headed by Provincial Board Governor Sok Loo and Thmor Koul District Governor, Chea Sambath.

Governor Chea Sambath says that from January to the beginning of November, 4,200 hectares of farms in Thmor Koul District have been damaged by the floods, affecting more than 3,000 farming families.

Although he has said that it is lower compared to last year’s record of families who suffered from the drought. More than 4500 families were recorded affected by the drought in 2020. The authorities have stated the rice seeds will be distributed in stages and it will be distributed first to those who are lacking the most resources for farming and those mostly affected by floods.
